Forest information systems

In 1984 standwise forest inventory data base "Lithuanian forests" (including 1.1 mln subcompartments) was created. The data base is used for working out forest statistics and cadastre, forest evaluation and forecasting forest dynamics. It is also applied to estimate versatile information on forest resources, sustainable forestry and forest growing alternatives. Since 1996 graphic data base as the background for geoinformational forest system is being formed. In 1997 the data base on private woodlots has been separated and data base on projected silvicultural measures in private woodlots has been started.
